Terrific turmeric smoothie recipes to spice up your health

If you only plan on doing one thing in the new year to improve your health, you should make it turmeric. It’s a real superfood and it can help you lose weight, maintain a healthy weight, alleviate depression, stop cancer, stop arthritis, and even protect you from Alzheimer’s, (just to name a few).

Here’s a list of five of the best smoothie recipes ever so you can easily incorporate turmeric into your life.

Please note that turmeric isn’t easy for the body to absorb unless you add black pepper, fats, or fruits and vegetables that contain quercetin. You may find many of these ingredients in these smoothie recipes for this reason.

1.  Green and Yellow Turmeric Smoothie

Add leafy greens to this recipe. It will add another anti-inflammatory substance to your body; chlorophyll. The avocado in this recipe helps the body absorb the turmeric with its healthy fats.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Coconut Milk or Coconut Water
  • 1 Cup of Packed Leafy Greens (your choice such as kale, spinach, or lettuce)
  • ½ of an Organic Avocado
  • 1 Organic Pear, Kiwi, or Apple
  • ½ Teaspoon of Turmeric Powder or ½ Inch Piece of Fresh Turmeric, Peeled and Chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil (optional)
  • Honey or Stevia to Taste

Add to your blender and mix well.

2. Superb Golden Smoothie

Super rich in vitamin A, this one is great for the eyes, healthy skin, and a super healthy immune system. Be sure you add the coconut oil so that your body can absorb the turmeric more easily.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons of Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1 Cup of Fresh Orange Juice or Water
  • 1 Organic Carrot, Cut into Chunks
  • 1 Organic Mango, Peeled and Cut into Chunks
  • 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil
  • ½ Inch Piece of Fresh Turmeric, Peeled or ½ Teaspoon of Ground Turmeric
  • 3 Dried Apricots (optional)

Place the oatmeal in your blender and mix until it is finely ground. Add the remaining ingredients. If you like your smoothie a bit thicker, allow it to sit for three to five minutes before drinking.

3. Lemon Turmeric Tonic

If you are in the habit of drinking lemon water in the morning, you can add turmeric to it for a super anti-inflammatory tonic that will really get your day off to a great start!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Warm (not too hot!) Water
  • ½ Teaspoon of Turmeric Powder or ½ Inch of Fresh Turmeric
  • Juice from ½ of an Organic Lemon
  • Dash of Cinnamon
  • Dash of Black Pepper
  • Honey or Stevia to Taste

Add the turmeric to the water, and then add the lemon juice, cinnamon, pepper and honey. Stir well. The turmeric will likely settle to the bottom so drink this quickly or stir it in between sips.

4. Super Anti-Inflammatory Morning Smoothie

Chronic inflammation has been linked to numerous diseases. Turmeric is one of the world’s best anti-inflammatory substances and most of the other ingredients in this recipe also have anti-inflammatory compounds.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Freshly Brewed Green Tea
  • 1 Cup of Organic Blueberries, Cranberries, or Raspberries, Your Choice
  • 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon of Flax Seeds or Chia Seeds
  • ½ Teaspoon of Ground Turmeric
  • ½ Teaspoon of Ground Ginger
  • Honey or Stevia to Taste

5.  Smooth Tropical Smoothie

The coconut milk and black pepper in this recipe will help your body absorb the curcumin. This smoothie will help ease digestion problems as well due to the bromelain in pineapple.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Coconut Milk
  • ½ Cup of Pineapple or Papaya Chunks
  • 1 Organic Banana
  • ½ Teaspoon of Ground Turmeric
  • ½ Teaspoon of Ground Ginger
  • ½ Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ Teaspoon of Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • Honey or Stevia to Taste
