What is the difference between Natural and Artificial alkaline water

You are here:

What is alkaline water

What is alkaline water…

Good question… “Alkaline” in alkaline water refers to its pH level. A pH level is a number that measures how acidic or alkaline water is on a scale of 0 to 14. For example, water with a pH of 1 would be very acidic, and water with a pH of 13 would be very alkaline. So, a simple answer would be that alkaline water is water with a higher than 7 pH. We would recommend not drinking alkaline water above 10 pH.

What types of alkalines are there?

There are two major types of alkaline water natural and artificial.

What is natural alkaline water?

Water that’s naturally alkaline occurs when water passes over rocks or over alkalizing media—like natural springs or through a mineralizing water filter — where the water picks up minerals, increasing the water’s alkaline level.

This is the natural way to get Alkaline water. Natural Alkaline water has naturally occuring minerals in the water. These natural minerals are great for the body and can help the body maintain good health and well-being.

An ideal method of getting natural alkaline water is from the UltraStream water filter.  It filters tap water and creates natural alkaline water. It not only removes the contaminants in the water but adds essential alkalizing minerals to the water. Find out more about the UltraStream.

What is Artificial alkaline water?

Water that’s artificially alkaline is water that’s been through a chemical process called electrolysis.

This technique uses a product called an ioniser to raise the pH of regular tap water. Makers of ionisers say that electricity is used to separate molecules in the water that are more acidic or more alkaline.

The acidic water is then separated out and drained out into the sink (wastewater).

A study published by the World Health Organization Trusted Source cautions against drinking water with low mineral content, which is created by reverse osmosis, distillation, and other methods (without additional mineralization) on a regular basis.

Where can I get alkaline water?

Alkaline water can be bought in many supermarkets or health food stores in plastic bottles. It can also be found online. Sadly, plastic bottle waste has had a major impact on the environment, and over the last year or two, there has been a large decrease in plastic bottled water sales. Reducing bottled water waste is a very good thing. Many people are turning to electric ionisers (thousands of dollars) or natural alkalizing water filters (hundreds of dollars, like the UltraStream) for their alkaline water.

However, you should use caution with unmineralized artificial alkaline water, which is likely to contain fewer good minerals than its high pH would have you believe and may still contain contaminants. Also keep in mind, that drinking too much artificial alkaline water may leave you deficient in minerals.

Summary

I hope this helps to explain “What is alkaline water?” Natural is always best, as we are finding out about a lot of things…

Stay healthy and safe.
